Calculator guide

Convert an amount already prescribed and independently verified by a licensed clinician or pharmacist into a mathematical solution volume. This tool cannot recommend a dose, verify a substance, or provide preparation or injection instructions.

Formula or method

Concentration = amount in vial ÷ reconstitution volume. A volume conversion multiplies desired amount by the reciprocal of concentration; syringe-unit conversions depend on the syringe scale.

How to use this calculator

  1. Use only an amount and final solution volume already verified by a licensed clinician or pharmacist.
  2. Check the requested amount, mg-to-mcg conversion, and syringe scale; the tool cannot select a safe dose or verify a substance.

Worked example

If 10 mg is dissolved in 2 mL, concentration is 5 mg/mL. A mathematical amount of 0.5 mg corresponds to 0.1 mL. This is a units example, not a recommended dose.

Understanding the result

The result is a volume conversion only, not permission to administer a substance. Concentration is vial contents divided by final solution volume. U-100 scale units describe 100 marks per mL, not biological potency units.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The prescribed amount, vial contents, final volume, substance identity, and syringe scale must be independently verified.
  • The tool does not assess approval, contraindications, sterility, compatibility, suitability, or safe administration.
  • Nonpositive inputs or a requested amount above the vial contents cannot produce a valid conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator select a safe dose?

No. It only converts an amount already prescribed and verified by a licensed clinician or pharmacist.

Are U-100 scale units the same as potency units?

No. A U-100 scale has 100 marks per mL. That volume scale cannot establish a substance’s biological potency.

What must be checked before relying on the calculation?

A licensed clinician or pharmacist must verify the substance, prescribed amount, concentration, final volume, and syringe scale. Never use this calculator to self-prescribe.
